Dr. George Sirrakos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Secondary Education at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. His teaching interests are social foundations of education, education research methods, science pedagogy and multicultural education. Sirrakos’ research areas are equity in education, critical urban education and cross-national studies of learning environments. Sirrakos was named a 2013-2014 Phi Delta Kappa Emerging Leader in Education for his work in helping advance the belief that traditionally marginalized students can also be successful in science. He is coeditor and chapter contributor of the recent book, Between the World and the Urban Classroom. Sirrakos has also published in the areas of grow-your-own teacher preparation programs, the school-to-prison pipeline and community-based restorative justice practices.
